Counterfeiting, fraud and related crimes pose significant challenges to virtually every industry. Listed below are facts and figures that highlight specific challenges that face the manufacturing sector.

Counterfeit automobile parts cost the automotive supplier industry over $12 billion annually. It’s estimated that if these losses were eliminated, the auto industry could hire 200,000 additional workers.
The FAA estimates that each year, two percent of the 26 million parts installed on airplanes are counterfeit — the total 520,000 substandard parts create a risk to the safety of the aircrafts.
Worldwide, 35% of the software installed on computers in 2005 was fake, according to a survey by the Business Software Alliance and the IDC research firm.
